Dentures and Partial Dentures in Salem, OR
Dentures and partial dentures have replaced missing teeth for centuries. While you may have some negative memories regarding your grandparents’ dentures, such as being too large or unnaturally white, you will be pleased to learn that modern dentures look and fit better than ever.
Getting started is easy. You can give us a call to make an appointment to learn more about dentures, bridges, or dental implants to replace your missing teeth.
Never Go Without Teeth
One hurdle that sometimes keeps patients from choosing dentures to replace missing teeth is the fear of having to go without teeth during the healing process necessary after dental extractions.
Immediate dentures provide a solution that lets you walk out of our Salem dental office with your dentures on the same day. Regular follow-up appointments as your gums heal over the course of six months will assist with an excellent fit that gives you confidence.
Once your gum tissue and bone heal completely, we can begin the process of final dentures.
Complete Dentures for Edentulous Patients
Total tooth loss on the upper or lower arch requires full dentures to complete the smile and to promote a healthy diet. Modern dentures typically have a pink, resin base and natural-looking artificial teeth designed for your facial features and age. Many more options exist today than old-fashioned dentures of the past.
As far as fit, our dentist, Dr. Seth Huish, has experience ensuring that our patients’ dentures fit and function better than ever. For individuals who prefer more stability, dental implants, usually 4 to 6 on the upper or lower arch, are enough to anchor dentures in place. Dental implants provide a locking mechanism using either a ball or bar attachment, and will only come out when released.
Partial Denture Options
When patients still have remaining natural teeth, partial dentures can complete the smile by attaching to remaining teeth. Dr. Huish designs partial dentures to match the natural color and shading of your existing teeth so that your smile looks seamless.
Partial dentures have a variety of bases to choose from – acrylic, metal, or flexible, depending on your preference and needs.
Ongoing Preventive Dentistry
Whether you have partial or complete dentures, maintaining good home hygiene and professional dental visits are still necessary. Routine oral cancer screenings, denture evaluations, and x-rays will help ensure that your oral health is top-notch. We recommend that you bring your denture to your twice-yearly dental appointment so that we can examine them for damage of fractures that may collect bacteria and cause infection or foul odors.
Ill-fitting Dentures Are Uncomfortable and Awkward
