Dental Implants in Salem, OR
Missing teeth impact your oral health, overall health, and can cause feelings of self-consciousness when it comes to your smile. Most dentists consider dental implants the gold standard of teeth replacement options because they provide several benefits that extend beyond previous teeth replacement options.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Listed here, you will find many of the practical and health benefits of dental implants.
Feels almost like a natural tooth – Unlike dental bridges and dentures, your dental implant is rooted in bone and will be almost like having your natural tooth again. You can clean your teeth as usual. When you smile, your dental implant will look like a natural tooth and feel no different to your tongue.
Prevents bone loss that is common with tooth loss – Tooth loss often leads to bone loss, called resorption. Dental implants stimulate healthy bone regeneration and protect the foundation of your smile.
Requires no diet restrictions – Unlike dentures and bridges, dental implants allow you to eat all of the foods you love. All that is requires is some common sense caution such as never chewing ice or hard candy.
Offers a long-term solution to missing teeth – With proper home and professional dental care, your dental implant could potentially last a lifetime. Preventing gum disease is essential, which is why brushing twice daily, flossing daily, and having regular dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays are imperative.
By staying on top of your oral health, you can often prevent periodontal disease – the leading cause of dental implant failure.

Dental Implant Surgery and Restoration
Dental implants require a bit of patience to complete. After the initial surgery, the proper time for integration of the dental implant post and your jawbone needs to occur. Many people are tempted to shy away from dental implants because they require surgery; however, it is essential to keep in mind that implant surgery happens with minimal discomfort and is well-tolerated.
Other than some minor swelling and bruising, dental implant surgery is often more comfortable and less painful than a dental extraction. In many cases, we can place the dental implant or perform necessary bone grafting at the time of the extraction appointment, reducing the number of appointments needed.
Once the surgery is complete, we will leave plenty of time for osseointegration to occur, which takes about 3 to 6 months.
Once the bone and implant fuse together, your custom dental implant crown will complete your smile.
Implant-Retained Dentistry
If you are tired of dentures that shift or slip when you eat or laugh, dental implants can add security and confidence.
Implant-retained dentures and bridges combine economic options with the benefits of dental implants for ideal results.
